An opportunity to join an international consultancy, which provides world-class local solutions in energy and resources, infrastructure, environment and urban growth, in the role of senior urban designer/manager. The role is based in the Perth, WA office.

In the Australia and Asia Pacific region, this company employs 900 people in 23 locations, including capital cities and regional centres in resource-rich and high growth areas. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for the management of medium- to large-scale projects, client relationships and will be involved in design direction, client management, and the financial management of projects.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A Degree level qualification in urban design or a related field
  • Strong design skills demonstrated through 10-12+ years experience in master planned communities and urban/regional development
  • Sound knowledge of planning and development process, urban design standards and practices
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to a range of audiences, and a supportive team outlook
  • Experience managing design projects and client relationships
  • Proficient hand drawn skills and manual drafting skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and competence with the Adobe Creative Suite CS3 or later (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
  • Intermediate level skill with AutoCAD. Experience with 3D modelling in SketchUp or similar is desirable
  • Strong interest in the development industry and the quality of the urban environment
  • Confidence in your ability and solution oriented
  • A flair for design and out of the box thinking
  • Innovative
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team, and keen to make a difference

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Higher level structure planning, concept design, detailed design, and yield assessment of medium to larger projects both independently and in consultation with other designers as needed
  • Management of project resourcing in conjunction with the Operations Manager
  • Undertaking business development activities in conjunction with the leadership team and technical directors
  • Client interaction and maintaining client relationships. Invoicing and management of project budgets, forecasting, WIP movement, and debtors
