IDEA’s 18th Anniversary
This year marks our 18th anniversary, making IDEA one of Australia’s oldest and best loved awards programs, celebrating achievements in design across the country, as well as the studios and individual designers producing the best work.
Launched in 2002, IDEA just keeps getting bigger and better. Last year, it attracted more than 1000 entries from all over Australia.
Awards up for grabs
There are 14 award categories open for entry this year that will be judged by our jury of seven industry experts. Categories range from from best use of colour to best public space design, best single residential to best workplace. There are also categories for object and furniture design.
As well as choosing these winner , our jury will issue five special awards. You can nominate yourself for two of these – best Emerging Designer (for practices and studios under five years) and the Sustainability award.
The other three – Designer of the Year, Overall Winner and Gold Medal – are chosen from the submitted projects. Keep an eye out for our judge reveals over the next couple of weeks.
This year, IDEA will be donating 10 per cent of all entry fees to a bushfire charity to help those affected by the unprecedented bushfires experienced across Australia in 2019 and early 2020.
We will also be working with Design Donated, an organisation founded to offer pro bono design services to these communities.
