From April 15 – 17, FORM brings leading artists, cultural figures and urban innovators in architecture, design and creativity to Perth for the public symposium; a two-day forum inspiring change through creativity. Running alongside FORM is the 2015 PUBLIC festival of art and ideas.

“As the world’s population becomes increasingly urbanised, there’s a need for us to ask more than ever before of the cities and public spaces we share. We’re asking more of the people who design them. We are looking for environments which respond to our desire to belong and also to lead positive, productive lives;” says Sharmilla Wood, Curator of FORM.

This broad program offers a raft of different dialogues, presenting a dynamic networking and professional development opportunity. FORM endeavours to link leading local thinkers with global visionaries, giving them a platform to instigate change through conversation and debate.

PUBLIC Symposium speakers include: Former Mayor of Bogota, Enrique Peñalosa, an urban strategist and Board President at the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy of New York.

Peñalosa is an internationally recognised figure, seen as a visionary in city transformation. He is widely credited with profoundly transforming Bogota and its eight million residents during his time as Mayor, making it an international case study for the potential towards an increased quality of life, mobility and equity resulting from strategic urban planning. His ideas have also significantly influenced policy in numerous cities around the world.

The Symposium experience also includes a number of ways for the general public to be part of the conversation and get involved.
