The United Kingdom’s largest artist-led fair, titled The Other Art Fair, will launch in Sydney this September.  The fair, running 10 - 13 September, will feature new work by a hundred of Australia’s leading emerging artists.

The Sydney iteration of the fair follows its UK counterpart’s unique model of connecting buyers directly with artists.  The event will spread over four days, consisting of workshops, immersive theatre, live music, and performance art.  Prospective buyers will be able to meet and talk to artists, while enjoying a beer from the pop-up bar, and listening to live music.

Fair Director Ryan Stanier established the Other Art Fair in 2011, with the aim of making art accessible to everyone.  Artworks will be available for sale from as little as $100.

The fair has had eight successful runs in the UK, between London and Bristol over the past four years.  The last fair attracted over 13,000 visitors, and internationally acclaimed Tracey Emin created a series of limited edition works exclusively for the event.

A committee of contemporary art experts will choose the artists.  The committee includes Paris Neilson of White Rabbit Gallery, art collector Dr. Dick Quan, artist Mikala Dwyer, Megan Robson, Assistant Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, and art advisor Viriginia Wilson.

The Sydney fair will be led by Ryan Stanier and Fair Director Emilya Colliver, who is the Founder and Director of Art Pharmacy.

The list of artists exhibiting at the inaugural fair will be announced in late May 2015. Australian artists interested in presenting work at the fair should submit applications before Friday 8 May.
