When: August 14 - 17

Where: The Hotel Windsor, Melbourne

Melbourne’s stately Hotel Windsor will play host to a new art fair, Spring 1883. The event is a collaborative effort by Melbourne-based gallerists Vasili Kaliman (Station), Vikki McInnes (Sarah Scout Presents) and Geoff Newton (Neon Parc), and will run alongside the 2014 Melbourne Art Fair.

As a temporary showcase, Spring 1883 aims to revive the traditional art fair model, providing a stimulating social hub for collectors and collecting institutions alike, as well as the public during general opening hours.

During Spring 1883, the Hotel Windsor’s suites will serve as a luxurious backdrop for works from selected contemporary galleries from Australia, New Zealand and the US.

Forgoing the standard practice of application that typifies the organization of an art fair, the galleries and work represented at Spring 1883 is the product of a shared dialogue between the exhibition founders, advisors and the participants. Spring 1883 is a diverse and compelling reflection of contemporary art.
