Hyundai commission: Philippe Parreno at Tate Modern

Dramatic, engaging and immersive, Parreno’s work pushes audiences to experience the art exhibition as a whole via video, sculpture, sound and performance

The second in this extraordinary series of commissioned works, the Hyundai Commission will be made for the exacting scale the Turbine Hall (which has the capacity for 1200 double-decker buses stacked seven high). Dramatic, engaging and immersive, Parreno’s work pushes audiences to experience the art exhibition as a whole via video, sculpture, sound and performance.

Moreover, following on from Anywhere, Anywhere Out of The World, Palaise de Tokyo, 2013, and H {N)Y P N(Y} OSIS, The Armory New York, 2015, his sense of augmented scale makes the exhibition all the more anticipated. While in the ’hood, pop into the new Tate Modern Switch House by Herzog & de Meuron, a fat twisting tower of cavernous gallery spaces.
