For one weekend in October, Brisbane natives will have a chance to peek behind closed doors of 90 of the city's most significant contemporary and historic buildings for the annual Brisbane Open House. The event is held in conjunction with World Architecture Day, and provides an opportunity for the public to engage with the built environment.

This year's Open House has grown significantly from previous year's events, incorporating not only buildings within the Brisbane inner city but also a large amount from the suburbs. There are 35 new buildings open to visitors in 2014, with a fair few located in the areas of New Farm, Milton and Red Hill.

Brisbane Open House will include a lively program of events with a diverse and insightful speaker series, and 'Made In Brisbane' featuring local boutique manufacturers. Young families are catered for with a dedicated children's program including Grocon’s Great Cubby House Build, in support of Kids Under Cover.

Continuing the popular formula of previous Open House events, this year's event will also offer guided walking tours of the city's architectural districts, with some of Brisbane's most distinguished architects hosting a select few tours.
