Meme has designed a new store for the quirky, award-winning retail brand Urban Attitude, which is known for its personality, plus gifts and young-at-heart products.
The brief was to create a clear vision for a store design that was practical, fun and distinct to the UA brand. Design cues and approach reference a playful take on your typical storage warehouse.
Situated in the new Grimshaw-designed Highpoint shopping centre, the shop front stands out architecturally framed in raw steel, with a clear open view into the store. Robust proprietary shelving is customised in white with pegboard mesh screens and complimenting accessories. Visual merchandising displays are deliberately considered and controlled by set margins, and vertical and horizontal lines.
The goal of this project was for an approachable, spatially considered design to showcase the varying products, providing an enjoyable experience to captivate and not overwhelm the customer.
Now in its eleventh year, Shaw Contract’s Design Awards program honors architecture and design firms that are changing the way people engage and interact with a space.
