Trocadero is a new brasserie and cocktail bar located within the recently redeveloped Hamer Hall on Melbourne’s Southbank. Located beside the Yarra River, the restaurant overlooks Flinders Street Station and Melbourne’s CBD, and takes its name from a dance hall that formerly occupied the site of Hamer Hall.
Inside, the expansive restaurant has a classic feel, with a contemporary edge. Dark Thonet Leiter chairs are paired with Tom Dixon-designed Screw Tables with marble tops in the dining room, while the gold mirrored cocktail bar adds modern sophistication to the riverside venue. In-situ artwork created by Japanese graffiti artist Jun Inoue adorns the walls, blending street art with the painterly aesthetic of traditional caligraphy.
The restaurant is the latest hospitality venture from Frank and Sharon van Haandel of the Van Haandel Group, whose other Melbourne venues include Stokehouse and Comme. Frank van Haandel and Anthony Musarra have worked together with chef Nick Bennett to launch Trocadero.
