The new Treasury Casino bar, ‘The Kitty’, is the result of the casion’s desire to create a 24-hour destination offering a variety of guest experiences for a varied clientele. In its design, TONIC aimed to entice patrons to watch, be seen, meet, escape, relax, enjoy and share. Spatial hierarchy and relationships were carefully considered to provide individual opportunities for various spaces.

The design formulates careful openings in existing heritage walls to create internal vistas and the use of feature pendant lights to assist visual links and connections between spaces. Beginning at a new external entry, navigating to the bar as a central focal point, other spaces evolve: the day lounge, the dance floor, private booths, external terraces and the gaming floor.

Aesthetically, black and gold reflective surfaces create a base material palette that is warm and inviting both day and night. Appended freeform shapes delicately hang from the walls and ceiling, subtly referencing the fluidity of the existing neo-classical architecture to soften the volume of the existing heritage space, and to create opportunities for unique lighting effects, while luxurious soft furnishings entice patrons to stay and relax.
