The living room, kitchen, dining room and master bedroom were located on the first floor and designed to achieve an open living space while framing the beach views. Sliding doors between the living areas and the master bedroom were incorporated to provide privacy for the occupants when required.
The expansive existing terrace on the first floor was utilised and enhanced by extending an outside living area into this space to allow the occupants to take full advantage of the beachfront location. Large sliding doors are retracted to combine the internal and external spaces, and a large folded roof structure surrounds the deck using solid, transparent and adjustable built form (louvres) to allow the occupants to control the environment and privacy. A floating timber roof plane provides the deck with intimacy and warmth.
The renovation is modern and minimal in its design; however the use of natural timbers in built form and furnishings combined with the existing travertine floors softens the spaces while creating rich colours and textures.

Drainage is often the forgotten workhorse of the building and design function. Yet drainage maintains a simple albeit vital purpose.
