This project provides Barcelona with a fresh alternative to Cerda’s unrelenting city grid. Fine grain connections feed surrounding areas into the station interchange. The site is overlaid with a dynamic twisted, ramped and folded ground plane creating a 1.2 km strip of green space.
Each rooftop belongs to the occupants below – providing passive and active spaces used for crops, waste and water processing, rest and recreation. Void spaces created beneath the ground plane are then inhabited. Non-specific programming facilitates maximum variety within the development.
