Lorne is a 40-unit residential project in Killara, located between the Highway and the railway line. The units are designed to appeal to empty nesters that have been used to living in a large house and garden.

The design, originally conceived by Alexander Tzannes & Associates and developed by Suters, is a series of pods that wrap around a large internal courtyard. The timber entry boardwalks accessing the site traverse between the pods, going through the lush internal courtyard to the apartments on the other side. Naturalistic ponds and water features, including a dry riverbed (bio-swale) and large trees, are present in this courtyard. The units are a mix of large two- and three-bedroom apartments with separate family rooms to give residents a sense of space.

Drainage is often the forgotten workhorse of the building and design function. Yet drainage maintains a simple albeit vital purpose.
