The Suds Laundrette recently opened at Society on Bray Street in South Yarra. Changing the way South Yarra locals do their washing, the fun and clever design transforms an otherwise mundane task into an enjoyable experience.

The interior is unlike that of the usual laundrette, with materials more akin to that of a stylish bar. Circular cut outs in the walls and ceiling recall the bubbles of washing suds, while the texture of the fabricated green grass contrasts the smooth, timber-inspired vinyl surfaces. Inspired by the chessboard in Alice in Wonderland, the grass and timber create a rich material contrast with the washing machines. Conceived as a social space, the interior complements the lifestyle focus of the Society development, also designed by Plus Architecture.

Brilliant work again by Plus Architecture, the coolest place to do your laundry in Melbourne by far.
