Shanghai Stories 1938 is a two-level restaurant in Sydney’s Chatswood.
The design captures the essence of both the western Bund district of Shanghai, depicted in the famous “long bar” styling of the ground floor, along with the more traditional Asian aesthetic of the Shikumen area of the city in 1938. On the first-floor, the restaurant represents the glamour and opulence of Shanghai at the time, in a period when it became known as the Paris of the orient, and home to Western artists, writers and musicians.
