Myer, Australia’s largest department store, recently relocated their head office to Melbourne’s Docklands. Project architects BVN commissioned Büro North to design graphic embellishments and signage throughout the space.
Following an extensive research phase, the team crafted a design that evolves throughout the nine floors of the building. Each floor is themed according to a specific decade in twentieth century fashion, beginning with the 1910s and culminating in the 1990s on the top floor. Wall graphics were relief-routered and the signage was developed using feature materials relevant to each decade. Pictograms for signage including bathrooms are also in keeping with the theme, creating a subtle and sophisticated interpretation of Myer’s heritage.
