The design intent for the Leo Burnett fitout was to create a comfortable workplace for an agency with no hierarchy and multi-functional spaces. The fitout reflects the core social, interactive nature of the way the agency works. The office is open, spacious and filled with natural light.
A logical mix of open-plan and enclosed spaces work as private and informal meeting zones. The idea of the kitchen table has been transformed for the office, working as a central gathering space used by the whole community. Meeting spaces are adjacent to the kitchen. The ‘pitch’ space is purposely located away from the entry, so that clients see the story of the agency by walking through the office. The journey begins with LCD screens that show rotating images of the staff, and continues past the workplace and communal area. The design relates to the industrial urban context of Walsh Bay, with layers of raw materials including plywood ceilings, exposed services, timber floorboards, a brick reception wall and timber screens.
