An unusually narrow site on Pitt Street in Sydney has been converted into a multi-level flagship Australian restaurant for Jamie Oliver’s venture ‘Jamie’s Italian’, with capacity for up to 200 guests.
Inspired by laneway culture, the interior palette includes natural materials mixed with blackened steel, burnished and antique coppers, earthy tiles and vibrant leathers.
On entering the restaurant, a fully operational pasta preparation station produces fresh pasta daily, while a dramatically tiered chandelier – visible from the street – hangs overhead.
The extended laneway dining area accommodates the majority of ground floor diners, and has been fitted out with a lively fuchsia and sage green seating banquette that stretches along mirrored walls.
At mezzanine level, an authentic Italian antipasto bar allows diners to sit up close to the chefs who slice and prepare cured meats, cheeses and gathered herbs, while overlooking the bustling scene below.
Once confined to sports or school facilities, steel lockers are now being chosen to support collaboration in the evolving workplace.
