Located in Glenelg’s Holdfast Shores in Adelaide, the design of Eden Dining Room & Bar focuses on the simplicity of materials to create a warm and timeless space. The interior palette is based on the ideals of mid-century architecture in its simplicity – focusing on creating a space that can enjoy the restaurant’s location with surrounding views to the marina, park lands and sea all from within one room.
As a seaside restaurant dealing with seasonal business trade, the space’s biggest challenge is maximising its appeal in winter. The warmer palette ensures an enjoyable experience within the space in winter as well as summer.
A feature of the space is the outdoor garden. Landscape areas provide the chefs with a selection of herbs and spices to use in their creations, while giving off pleasant aromas that travel around the space when the sea breeze blows in.
With the restaurant facing harsh sun in summer, the exterior design focuses on shade. A laser-cut patterned Marine Ply facade shelters diners during the day and creates an attractive feature at night. During the day, the patterned facade filters in dappled light and reduces the need for air-conditioning by providing ventilation through the venue with the sea breeze.
This understated project brings life to the Holdfast Shores area, giving the growing population of Glenelg a new ‘local’ to call home.
The Danish bar stools were originally produced in the mid 1950s and are the first to be released in Workspace’s new 'Origin’s Collection'.
