The new Great Hall and Aquatic Centre at Knox Grammar School in NSW accommodates an athletics hall for 2500 people, a 50m competition pool, and learn to swim & gymnasium facilities.
The brief for the project was to deliver a building that acknowledged the history of the school. The space was to meet the daily requirements of a school’s sports facilities, and also deliver a sense of occasion for school events. The hall features a grand entry foyer, with ceremonial stairs that address the boulevard.
The building, officially opened on 16 August 2011, is the sixth infrastructure project in the state to receive authorisation from the Coordinator General under the Nation Building and Jobs Plan (State Infrastructure Delivery) Act 2009.
