This project encompassed the reconstruction of the University of Queensland’s Heron Island Research Facility following its destruction by fire in 2007. The facility is located on an island at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef and contains research labs, seminar rooms, teaching labs, administration, staff, student and research accommodation.
This project was awarded a regional commendation and state architecture awards by the Australian Institute of Architects in 2011.
Drainage is often the forgotten workhorse of the building and design function. Yet drainage maintains a simple albeit vital purpose.
