The Great Barrier Reef Yacht Club and Villas are approaching completion. Architect Walter Barda’s design, with its sweeping lines, is inspired by the local environment. Perched on the northern edge of the marina, the yacht club stretches north along the shores to Dent Passage, where 35 luxury residential villas sweep in two flowing alignments along the foot of the rising topography that sits behind the development.
In keeping with the architectural themes, the landscape design draws from the island setting, providing a transition from coastal flats to open forest and ultimately immersing the development within its environs. Tidal motion is reflected in the sinuous mounded gardens rolling down to the lagoon pool nestled on the shore to Dent Passage. The villas are embraced by tropical gardens, offering intimacy for residents and framing spectacular views toward the Whitsunday Islands.
With the deadline for completion fast approaching, it is exciting to see years of planning and visualisation come to life. In landscape terms, it is merely the beginning. As the plants settle in and become more established, the setting to this unique development will continue to mature and evolve.
Working with Edra from the start, Italian designer Francesco Binfaré has produced some of the brand's classics, including the recent Pack and Chiara sofa.
