Canada Bay Council commissioned Melocco and Moore Architects to design a new community facility at Drummoyne Oval, situated on Five Dock Bay. The brief required that the facility act as an entry to the site precinct, as a grandstand, to provide changerooms and as a function centre.

The building was positioned so that it served both Drummoyne Oval and the adjoining Taplin Park. It has a built form that responds directly to the natural landscape with a dynamic, articulated roof that rises with the northern slope of the land to address the the precinct entry point. The proximity to the waters edge and the Bay has provided opportunity for excellent cross ventilation and views from the first floor community room.

Drainage is often the forgotten workhorse of the building and design function. Yet drainage maintains a simple albeit vital purpose.
