ROTHELOWMAN completed the contemporary architectural and interior design for this Hamton townhouse community, located in Brighton, one of Melbourne’s inner bayside suburbs. Consisting of 46 high quality townhouses, the development features a diversity of house types through rigorous refinements of internal layouts and delicately sculpted facade details.

Combining traditional roof elements, pergolas and natural finishes with a contemporary design theme, the townhouses make a positive contribution to the residential character of the surrounding area.

Baymarque won the Medium Density category at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Victoria Awards for Excellence in 2009. The project was awarded for being “deceptively large, and with good street frontages,” and is in keeping with the large family residences typical of the area. Each of the houses is designed to be well-priced for the local market, with a compact size and efficient use of materials. Baymarque has now been put forward for a National award to be announced soon.
