Architecture: Adolph Residence

November 2, 2009

An enclosed courtyard, with a sloping panelled roof inspired by Alvar Aalto’s Maison Carré.

A new roof over an existing enclosed courtyard in the coastal suburb of City Beach. Inspiration was taken from Alvar Aalto’s Maison Carré in the countryside outside Paris. A pavilion/verandah was created to the rear with the leftover skillion roof, which allowed for the play of light from the east and west filtering into the space between.
