Bar Testoni

October 11, 2013

Make Creative’s fresh and playful fitout for this cafe in Mosman, Sydney is characterised by a modest material palette and striking graphics.

A modest material palette and striking graphics characterise MAKE Creative’s design of this cafe in Mosman, Sydney. A brick bar painted black is teamed with formply panels and concrete floor, while, behind the bar, a handpainted mural depicts a moustache, espresso cup and teaspoon to reflect the cafe’s branding.

In a simple and easily modified storage system, black painted dowels have been inserted into the perforations in these panels to support shelving, breadboxes and menu boards. In keeping with the owners’ desire for a fun and memorable cafe, the playful graphics reappear besides the tables and are complemented by the green ratchet straps used to bind a group of stools together to form a bench by the front window. A vintage meat slicer in vibrant red sits on the countertop to emphasise the cafe’s focus on simple, good quality Italian food.
