The new addition was to be as much in harmony with the original house as possible. Therefore, the design remained very minimal with honest materials like steel, timber and glass in a Miesian pavilion style arrangement. A wall of sliding glass doors connects the family area and deck but also allows natural light to penetrate deep into the house. The seamless interior design sees the kitchen bench of Pietra Gray marble and white Caserstone piercing through the sliding glass doors onto the deck to become the barbeque bench. The laminate colour on the joinery, matched to the wall colour, blends in smoothly.
