AGL’s brief required minimal environmental impact from a space that was functional yet classic, but with a touch of edginess. The reception epitomises the concept, with its atmosphere of a modern, welcoming living room. This sense is achieved through the finishes, including real and reconstituted veneers from environmentally responsible suppliers, mosaic wall tiles in subtle colours that spell out AGL’s business cores, a custom-designed rug of the AGL logo and a simple off-white reception desk. Adding impact is a feature ceiling grid above the waiting area, with glass pendant lights hanging that play on the idea of floating orbs of gas.
