Manly Penthouse

December 25, 2012

The purity of furniture and furnishing forms play an integral part in maintaining clean lines and a contemporary aesthetic in this luxurious five-bedroom penthouse apartment.

Designer: Andrea D’Cruz of D’Cruz Design Group (former director of RLD)
Photographer: Nicholas Watt

The initial scope of works encompassed a full design exercise in amalgamating the top floor apartment and three-bedroom apartment below into one luxurious five-bedroom penthouse apartment. The decoration component of the project continued the journey of a sophisticated resort-like aesthetic, befitting to the lifestyle of the Client and the apartment location on the beach font.

The formality of ebony stained timbers contrasts soft whites to create a balanced palette. This highly contrasting monochromatic palette is then brought to life with accents of colour strategically placed within each space.

The purity of furniture and furnishing forms played an integral part in maintaining crisp and clean lines of a modern and contemporary aesthetic.

Maintenance of surfaces within a harsh costal environment naturally formed a priority. The use of restricted materials was to at no time, compromise the functional and aesthetic outcome – this clear objective was set at the commencement of the project. Of equal importance to the project brief, the design had to be welcoming, comfortable, and liveable.
