Interior Design: People’s Choice Credit Union

Design Clarity’s fitout for Credit Union’s first concept store delivers a vibrant and social banking space.

Imaging parking your bike inside the bank, and getting a coffee with your credit card: The merger of two South Australian Credit Unions in 2010 provided Design Clarity with the opportunity to create a bold new fitout for the Credit Union’s first concept store. The fitout is a social, transparent and rebellious banking space.

The brief for the space was to emphasise Credit Union’s philosophy: ‘run by members, not by numbers’. The interior is designed to give members somewhere comfortable to do business. This has been expressed by elements including faux grass, coffee machines, real money trees, communal lockers, umbrellas and trolleys that members can borrow, iPads for kids to draw electronic pictures with and even a community market offered to local farmers and businesses.

Bright colours, innovative design features and visual segmentation within the room work together to deliver a vibrant, engaging and courageous design.
