Interior Design: Bank of Melbourne

Angley Arrowsmith deliver the design concept for the new Bank of Melbourne, with a focus on an open layout and local community.

Bank of Melbourne is the new brand introduced by St George Bank to serve Victorian customers with a local bank, engaged with the local communities in which it operates. Angley Arrowsmith were engaged to provide end-to-end design and delivery for the new concept to match this local focus.

The brief was to design a bank that would be welcoming, break down the physical and emotional barriers between customers and staff, and assure customers that the services and solutions were shaped to suit the needs of Victorian businesses, households and the local community. The design delivers a sophisticated and engaging aesthetic, with a modern and open space that reduces the number of conventional ‘screened’ tellers.

An ‘open’ banking format with centralised open tellers and customer connection points on the retail floor creates an interactive and relaxed consultative banking environment. The interactive walls invite customers to learn more about the bank’s products and services, while digital prints of local landmarks and icons give the branches a distinctly Victorian feel.
