Interior Design: Sergio’s Cake Shop

A rich and indulgent cake shop fitout, created by Forward Thinking Design.

The client for this cake shop fitout asked for a retail design as exquisite as their award-winning products, with a design that specifically referenced the golden domes of Greek Cypriot churches. This architectural form is expressed with a curved, ribbed ceiling, adopting the warm colours and sense of grandeur and indulgence from the churches, but also adapting it to suit the Australian suburban market.

The products are the the hero of the fitout. Glass-fronted cabinets have been custom designed, with specialised lighting used to display the cakes, making them almost twinkle like pieces in a jewellery store. Banquette seating provides an area for patrons to enjoy coffee and cake within the luxurious, warm and indulgent interior.
