Un-built: Eliza apartments

September 20, 2010

Designed by Tony Owen Partners, the Eliza apartments in Sydney’s Elizabeth Street will feature a sinuous facade and luxury apartments with panoramic views.

Construction is now commencing on the Eliza luxury apartments, designed by Tony Owen Partners, after the design received planning approval. Located on Elizabeth Street in Sydney’s CBD, the 17-storey building will overlook Hyde Park.

The 19 apartments have a unique parametrically designed facade that responds to changing solar, view and planning conditions, creating a facade that varies on each level. The 2- and 4-bedroom units will have panoramic views over the park and the harbour, while the three-storey penthouse will boast a rooftop pool, private elevator and grand staircase. The interiors are inspired by the classics of twentieth century design, echoing the neighbouring buildings – some of the best examples of historic Sydney architecture.

The fluid profile of the exterior will be combined with classic, elegant materials to produce a progressively designed yet stately building. This project is one of several Tony Owen Partners projects using digital design techniques to create exciting environmental solutions, offering a new approach to urban design.

Eliza apartments are being developed by Ceerose. The project is due for completion by 2012.
