Interior Design: Allconnex Water

October 4, 2011

Smith Madden create a flexible, adaptable workplace fitout for Allconnex Water in South East Queensland.

Allconnex Water sought to consolidate their new position as one of South East Queensland’s water utilities, following the merger of three local council water utilities. Smith Madden won the tender and were appointed to create a best practice workplace for Allconnex.

With a minimal brief available from the client, Smith Madden utilised experience from working on other large-scale corporate fitouts and the knowledge gained from their workplace transition studies.

The fitout, spread over five floors, features a consistent planning method to deliver uniformity and a key driver for Allconnex: equality. A flexible plan allows for expansion and contraction within teams. Each floor is provisioned with meeting rooms, quiet rooms, open informal collaborative spaces, print utilities and kitchenettes, while a large staff cafe encourages movement and informal knowledge sharing through the building.
