The Fairfield Industrial Dog Object, or FIDO as it’s known, has given much joy to the community since its recycled wooden snout first appeared to guard the adjacent train station in 2000. Its whimsical appeal has evolved over time, becoming a suburban landmark and a convenient meeting point for locals.

Continuing a tradition of championing public art,  the City of Darebin announces its plan to commission new public art works.

Darebin City Council invites local artists working on small to larger scale projects to invigorate the suburban landscape. The works are planned to sit within high density development areas, and gateway entrances in the Rucker and Latrobe wards. The brief is open to imaginative works exploring sound, infrastructure and landscape in innovative ways.
