Share

Paris-based website devoted to the promotion of design by, primarily, Moroccan-based designers Dar en Art has recently unveiled the new furniture collection by Charles Kalpakian. Designed exclusively for Dar en Art, the new collection features the Ahlan seat, the Hawa folding screen and the Nour lanterns.

Charles Kalpakian is currently a freelance designer working on projects ranging from furniture, product design, decorative arts and scenography. Having lived in Lebanon and France, Kalpakian filters in the cultural influences of the two places in his works.

Ahlan seat
Drawing inspiration from Middle Eastern designs, the Ahlan seat has a structured design with level back and hand rests. The beech wood frame is upholstered in fabric and padded with foam. It is available in two colour combinations: Azure blue seat with dark blue cushions; and Khaki seat and yellow earth cushions.

Hawa folding screen
Inspired by oriental designs, the Hawa folding screen uses lines and solid colours to create an interesting pattern that allows the light of the South through the panels. Available in two different colour combinations.

Suspension Nour
The design of the Nour magic lanterns is inspired by the famous Lebanese mountains, Jabal. These electric lanterns are available in two colours: dark blue and brick red.
