Frasers Property Australia has received approval to develop a $6 million public park on the Carlton and United Brewery site in Sydney, as part of its Broadway redevelopment scheme.

The 6,500sqm park will include landscaped gardens, lawns and water features, as well as infrastructure including roads, footpaths and new traffic signals. Jeppe Aagaard Andersen Landscape Architects and Turf Design form the design team for the park.

The park, which will be called Central Park, is one part of a major $1.3 billion redevelopment project on the site of the former brewery, which the developers are calling Frasers Broadway. The large mixed-use development will be underpinned by sustainability initiatives, with the property group aiming for the highest environmental rating in the country.

The park is expected to be completed within 12 months, and will reopen an area of Sydney that has been cut off from the city for 150 years.

Four further sites are awaiting approval from the NSW Department of Planning for the Broadway project, Frasers Property said.
