The interior architecture for Changi Airport’s new Terminal 3 en compasses four levels above ground, L1 Arrivals, L2 Departures, L3 Landside Retail Mezzanine and L4 Viewing Platform.
The design applies principles of ‘social and sensory’ elements to create a memorable airport experience, characterised by a Singaporean ‘sense of place’, reinforcing user friendliness and amenity. This design philosophy compliments the 21st century airport model that reflects the airport’s economic importance with a civic focus for the city and region.

The planning encourages intuitive spatial navigation to promote ease of orientation and way-finding. The design concept implements ‘total journey experience’, an approach focused on the needs of passengers at every stage, from drop-off to departure, arrival to pick-up and supports a human scale connection within the larger civic building and integrates functional planning with passenger amenities.

Arrivals and departures levels are connected by crystal cascade waterfalls and vertical wall gardens spanning 300m. A sculptured sandstone art wall welcomes passengers in the arrivals hall, an artistic diversion designed to encourage tactile exploration, while awaiting baggage.
Airside: Facilities are designed to provide transit and departing passengers with ease of navigation, high levels of comfort and amenity, for often long dwell times.
