The project was approached as an act of heritage conservation and the results of our design hand are barely legible to strangers. Being a modular, structurally-determined post and beam wooden structure, and therefore inherently rigid and full of conviction, the original house instructed our every move. First, existing partition walls were cleared, then an entirely new program and arrangement of rooms was created under the large parasol roof, while still honouring the existing structure. The interventions include a new fireplace, door systems, kitchen, custom lounge and alcove, wall unit, curved skylight veil, deck screen and new bathrooms.
